Rufus at School |
We completed training with Rufus. He was the smartest canine in
the class. It was at the warehouse Canine Coach in St Louis Park. I have to say, it was a
great class.
How has Rufus changed our life you ask?
In many ways. Someone to care for and protect. Now and then to
treat him with a raw beef marrow bone from Hackenmullers meat market.
Teaching us patience. How long can this dog spin in circle without
becoming dizzy? Rufus follows me everywhere. I love it.
Now that Rufus is here, most days I walk at least a mile. I feel
safe. Rufus and I have made many friends. Many people stop to ask
about him, and comment what a handsome prince he is.
I have noticed if I am working with Rufus and my hand goes over his
head fast, Rufus ducks real fast. Sure sign that someone put their
hands on him. As long as I am around nobody will abuse him again.
Rufus loves to ride in the car/truck. We often drive to the nearest
dog park for socialization. Rufus is getting better. He is
introverted, and would rather just patrol the fence line. Every now and
then he pairs up with a dog and they run the park together. Rufus
avoids fights. I have been working at
that by making him sit off the side of the trail/sidewalk while the
other person, and or dog(s) pass by. I want Rufus to be 99% docile
towards others.
Rufus and the cats are good. Now and then they touch noses. One cat
rolls in the dog bed and messes up the blanket. I’m not sure why but
it’s harmless.
I would like to thank you, and all the other great people at MDR for finding Rufus for us.
