Jacob is visiting with us as his wonderful foster mom, recovers from back surgery. He is a really good boy and is full of love. He
still has a lot of puppy in him and loves to play. We are continuing Jacob’s therapy as he is
recovering from his knee surgery. Jacob has a check up this Friday, so
everyone please wish us luck. He will have X-rays to determine how is knee
is healing. We are hoping for great news and be able to continue to the next
steps, which include lots of play time with the big dogs!
Jacob is
great at sharing food. I need to get a picture as he will share not only
with the dogs but the cat. He is very motivated by treats. He knows some
basic commands and is great with with sit and down. Down has been challenging
with his knee. He also seems to do well with wait and leave it. He is walking well on the leash. He is good
with nail trimming, the dremel, and the bath/shower. Jacob is the only one
in the house who is not afraid of the vacuum!
He gets along with dogs,
although he really wants to play with our boy dobie Harley. Our boy really wants to play
with him. We have to really watch this as Jacob needs to progress with his
knee and we don’t want him to be set back. Harley has been great about not
being rough with Jacob and letting Jacob pick, play bow, and bark at him. Our female, will lay by him and walk around with him. Of course she
will let him and everyone else know that she is still in charge, but she will
now share certain bones and treats with him.
He is trying to figure
out the rabbit. He will lay by her cage and the rabbit will sit on the other
side. But he just does not know what the furry thing should be doing. He
will paw at her cage and she will
run and sit by him to see what he is up to.
Plus the rabbit loves to hear his squeaky toys and gets really excited. It
is pretty funny to watch.
We are glad the weather is warming up and we
love to be outside. The dogs taught Jacob how to drink out of the bird bath.
Jacob loves water and is big drinker!
Wish us luck for our check up on
Friday. We will have a follow up from our appointment.
