Dear Dobe Rescue of MN,
It
might seem strange for someone in Canton, SD, who currently has a dog
from the Doberman Rescue of NE (which is our “area” Doberman rescue) to
write the Doberman Rescue of MN, but over six years ago I contacted your
organization specifically looking for a puppy.  It would be our first Doberman, and we were nervous about adopting an adult.  Even
though I found out you don’t typically have puppies, and we were also
outside of your adoption area (had moved from Minneapolis to Sioux
Falls) I received a nice response and was referred to a litter that had
just been bred in WI by (the late) Marsha Hart.  That is how we ended up purchasing Zelda, our first doberman.  Through
Zelda, I became active in the Sioux Empire Kennel Club, joined a
mondio/working dog club, played with agility, competed in obedience and
enjoyed a wonderful, loving pet.  We became confident to then adopt a second, older Doberman, Sinte’.  When
walking with her adopted brother, they would literally stop traffic
(happened twice) with their presence. Zelda’s good looks were surpassed
only by her excellent temperament—she was a great ambassador for the
breed.

Yesterday we euthanized Zelda (Legend of Zelda, CD, CGC) due to osteosarcoma.  We
would like to make a donation in her honor, and to also recognize Dr.
Heidi Hanson DVM (All City Pet Care South ER clinic) who went above and
beyond in March of this year when Z had obstruction surgery and also
suffered complications afterwards.  Dr. Hanson’s
excellence in her craft, deep compassion and her attention to detail
were wonderful, and we will always be grateful for her excellent care of
“Zelly.”
Sincerely,

Laura & Steve

Dear Steve and Laura,
Our sincerest condolences to the loss of your beloved Zelda from all of us at Doberman Rescue Minnesota.
