After 8 weeks of training, Jaycee graduated from obedience tonight. She is officially retired to rest her tired head on the couch, or wherever she chooses. At age 7 years she proved to the world, that you really can teach an old dog new tricks. Jaycee has earned her rightful place next to Titan and her people. She is a great companion and we are grateful to share our home with her.

Thank you Jill for your update of Jaycee! We love to hear how our Rescue Dobermans are doing in their forever homes! Every Doberman needs a loving home and a fair leader who will stimulate their minds and bodies with training, training, training combined with lots of play to make them wonderful pets. Some of our rescue dobermans do not get this when they are pups, eventually surrendered to rescues or shelters as their owners had no idea of what they were getting into with the crazy, daily doberman demands. Buying a pup or adopting a rescue dog requires 100% commitment-for the life of the dog. Owning a dog takes work, lots of time and maybe some heartache till you mold the perfect dog. Dobermans are not for everyone as they are high energy, working dogs, please read http://dpca.org/breed/breed_temperament.htm for more info on the Doberman personality. They require daily mental and physical stimulation, training in formal obedience and a job, such as therapy work at hospitals and nursing homes, formal agility or obedience, or just loyal playmates/companions to their masters to name a few. Dobermans need to be engaged with their people with a trusting and fair pack leader, one that is willing to meet the daily needs of the Doberman. Rescue Dobermans, once you’ve won their trust and love, met their needs with on going training that includes mental and physical stimulation, you will have the most wonderful pet and loyal companion! Jaycee is proof!
