Breed Information

Paws down, Dobermans are the best dogs around. They are loyal, smart, energetic, watchful, and determined. Dobermans require plenty of daily exercise, mental challenges and a calm, stable, firm and smart owner. Without these things, Dobermans can and will become destructive of themselves and their surroundings.

With the nickname of “Velcro Dogs,” Dobermans want nothing more than to stick with their people. They love to lean against you and beg for a head rub.

Dobermans, like other breeds, have certain health issues that are common in the Doberman breed. These include Cardiomyopathy, Hip Dysplasia, Von Willenbrand’s Disease, Hypothyroidism, Wobbler’s Syndrome, Progressive Retinal Atrophy, and Albinism.

You will not find another breed of dog that will make you laugh and keep you on your toes every single day! However, Dobermans are not the breed for every family and Doberman Rescue Minnesota is dedicated to finding the very best homes for our dogs.

Please review the DPCA website for all Doberman information before applying for any of our Dobermans
